We will cover the possible solutions one by one to help you fix this annoying microwave issue.

Before we proceed with detailed explanation of causes and their solution, I want to you to first check the GFCI and reset it. If it’s alright, only then carry on with the other solutions explained below:

#1: Thermal Fuse

If there are no issues with GFCI, then a blown thermal fuse might be the culprit in this case. The fuse protects the microwave from overheating.

To check if the fuse is fine, you will have to make use of a multimeter. If there is no continuity in the fuse, then you need to replace it.

#2: Microwave is Buzzing but not Heating Properly

If your Microwave is buzzing but doesn’t heat properly, then the problem might be because of the defective power diode. The power diode is necessary for heat production in the microwave. If it doesn’t work properly, the microwave cannot produce enough heat.

Other than that, you also have to check the high voltage capacitor which is responsible for storing heat. Also, the magnetron, which is responsible for oscillating is also a main component of the microwave.

Make sure to check all these components. If any of these is not functioning properly, your microwave might cause issues.

#3: Door Latch

When the door of the microwave isn’t closed completely, the microwave doesn’t work properly. Inspect the latch to make sure that there are no problems with it. Make sure to replace it if there are issues with it.

#4: Door Switch

The door switch is a component that is closed with the shutting of the microwave door. To check if there’s any problem with this switch, use the multimeter. Replace it in case of any issues.

#5: Microwave Immediately Turns Off

If there are any problems with the thermostat, door switch, main control board or the thermoprotector, then you can experience this issue. You can make use of multimeter to check if there are any issues with any of these components. Make sure to replace the faulty components.

#6: Turntable Failure

The turntable isn’t spinning properly, check these parts:

  • Turntable guide
  • Carousel cooking tray
  • Carousel tray motor
  • Drive bushing coupler

Turntable guide is placed below the turntable. It needs to be adjusted properly. Replace it if it is broken.

Carousel cooking tray is placed between the coupler and the turntable guide. Align it properly to make sure that it doesn’t cause any issues.

The carousel tray motor should be checked with the multimeter. If it is faulty, replace it.

Drive bushing coupler is positioned at the base of the microwave, If it has any issues, then replace it.

#7: Sparks inside the Microwave

If you experience this problem, immediately turn off the microwave, let it cool down. After some time, remove the thing that you have placed in the microwave, wait for a few more minutes and then power on the microwave.

The food itself might be causing this problem in some cases. Thus, cleaning is advised.

Final Resort: Calling a technician

Once you have gone through these causes and the still the microwave doesn’t seem to be functioning properly, then it is advised to call a technician. Because if there is any complicated issue with the microwave, then it is better to leave it in the hands of a professional.
